Peer Support Advocates

PQSA’s Peer Support Advocates provide support, advice, information and advocacy for clients and their family and friends. Our Peer Support Advocates have experienced a spinal cord injury, so they bring an understanding of the issues confronting all clients during and after rehabilitation. They provide the opportunity to talk to someone who appreciates the challenges someone going through Rehabilitation goes through. The support they offer is not only available to our clients, but also to their family and friends.

The Peer Support Advocates work at the Repatriation Health Precinct Spinal Injury Unit and at the PQSA office at Dulwich. They can also visit our clients at home or at other convenient locations. The purpose of our Peer Support Advocacy Service is to support our clients to achieve their goals.

PQSA Peer Support Advocates can provide:

  • Support, advice and advocacy on a wide range of issues, resources and services associated with spinal cord injury to our clients and their families
  • A flexible service designed to meet the specific needs of the client. The Peer Support Advocates will be involved as much or as little as desired
  • Representation to ensure that our clients have access to the best medical and non-medical services
  • Introduction and referral to a range of professional and community service providers that may assist with ongoing rehabilitation.
