Western Recreation Group

We believe in supporting our clients to live their potential. One of the ways we encourage participation in the community is through PQSA's fortnightly Recreation Program. The program offers a variety of interactive and inspiring activities to adults who rely on a wheelchair for mobility.

Our southern and northern groups have been active for many years and we are now thrilled to announce a new western recreation program group starting soon!

Outings include:

  • Museums and galleries
  • Adelaide Central Market
  • Adelaide Oval Tour
  • Interactive art or history programs
  • Adelaide Planetarium
  • Adelaide Town Hall
  • Adelaide Treasury
  • Alberton Oval
  • Botanic Gardens
  • Bowling
  • Port River Dolphin Cruise
  • Parliament House
  • SA Metropolitan Fire Service
  • ...and many more!

When will the group meet?

Our new western group will meet on Thursday fortnightly (pension week) from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Our Program Facilitator, Mick Occhiuto, will update you with a list of outings for the coming month, so you can check your availability. If you do not have your own vehicle, PQSA will pay the gap of your Access Cab voucher.

Who can join?

If you have a spinal cord injury or neurological condition and use a wheelchair as your primary means of mobility, you can be self-referred through agencies, services, family members or friends. Following this, Mick can meet with you in your own home for assessment, and to answer any questions or concerns. If you require one-on-one support, you are asked to bring your own Support Worker or Carer. We provide one Support Worker per five clients. Re-assessments are done annually to assist with program planning.
