3D Printed Implants May Offer a Unique Approach for Treating Spinal Cord Injury

In the quest to restore function after spinal cord injury, researchers at The University of California San Diego have come up with a unique tool – a 3D-printed scaffold. This “bioprint” custom scaffold is intended to serve as a bridge to place, guide and protect stem cells, enabling them to grow into nerves that can span across the injury.
