PQSA is thrilled to announce our plans for Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week 2022!

Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week (SCIAW) is a national campaign highlighting spinal cord injury in the community. SCIAW is relevant not only to people living with spinal cord injuries, their families and friends; but the broader community, venues and businesses.

We are proud to be hosting the following activities during the week:

Saturday 3 September Client luncheon at the Repat

Every client in the Repat and their loved ones will be invited to join us for a gourmet lunch at the spinal unit. The PQSA Peer Support team will host the lunch and provide entertainment!

Due to COVID restrictions, only admitted clients of the unit are permitted to attend.

Monday 5 September (Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day) Information Session - Latest Developments in Spinal Cord Injury Research

10:00am - 11:30am at PQSA, 225 Greenhill Road, Dulwich or online HERE

Neil Sachse Centre’s spinal cord injury researchers Dr Ryan O’Hare Doig and PhD candidate Sandra Jenkner will be sharing research led by the Neil Sachse Centre.

In the presentation, Dr Doig and Sandra will share with you the most recent research findings from the International Neurotrauma Symposium (INTS) on how scientists may be able to manipulate stem cells to improve their survival rate after transplantation, and provide improved therapeutic benefits following spinal cord injury. PhD superstar, Sandra Jenkner will be presenting her findings on how spinal cord injuries change the circulation of different populations of white blood cells. These new populations may have significant clinical importance as markers after spinal cord injury and may prove to be useful as a therapeutic target.

RSVP is essential. Please email Olivia if you wish to attend - oliviab@pqsa.asn.au
